Two Detentions Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

The assault resulted in the temporary shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. They both remain in custody, authorities confirmed.

These detentions come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt in the event. Five people went to hospital for treatment and were later released.

Police arrested a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault near the scene. He has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Police were called at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of a number of people hurt by an irritating chemical thought to be pepper spray.

The assault - an event that police said was isolated and not considered an act of terror - caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
