Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and continuing assault against it by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity close to the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is uncertain and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a number of missiles," it added.

The statement noted debris fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
