The home side's a player shields the ball from the opposition's Leny Yoro in the top-flight encounter at their home ground. At a Glance Dominic Calvert-Lewin sees a first-half header ricochet off the post. Brenden Aaronson puts the home side ahead with a low effort in the second half. Matheus Cunha responds just three minutes afterwards. The Yorkshire side extend their longest top-flight unbeaten run since the turn of the century. Manchester United's disappointing run of form persisted at Elland Road, but manager the Portuguese tactician had his Brazilian forward to thank for the team not suffering even more damage against their old rivals. The Everton loanee directed a first-half attempt against the woodwork for the confident home team before the American midfielder applied a cool finish with a driven, 62nd-minute shot. With the goal, the United boss was under intense scrutiny after his side had failed to beat bottom-of-the-table Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford earlier in the week. Nevertheless, against a team who had two days less to recover, Cunha levelled three minutes later when he ran on to a pass from introduced Joshua Zirkzee and guided a finish underneath advancing home goalkeeper Lucas Perri. It was only the South American's fourth goal since his big-money summer move and came at a time when the manager is without several key attacking players due to a mix of injury and national team commitments. Not that Leeds to sympathise with that given their own lack of preparation time. The Swiss attacker forced a diving save out of visiting goalkeeper Senne Lammens with a spectacular overhead kick, and United heads were in hands when the Slovenian striker, who is finding it hard to make an impression, turned Zirkzee's cut-back wide from close range. The goalscorer, who had a goal disallowed for offside much earlier in the contest, also fired against a post late on. The draw prolongs Leeds' unbeaten run to seven matches, their longest such streak since 2001, and takes them a significant margin clear of the relegation zone. For the Manchester United though, it was yet another chance to move into fourth spot, albeit only for a short time, wasted. Manchester United Breakdown: Amorim's Side Misfire Again With the AFCON reaching its knockout phase, Amorim could be understood for hoping the participating nations make a swift exit. Current injuries to skipper Bruno Fernandes and England international Mason Mount only exacerbated the impact the unavailability of other attackers is having on Amorim's options. It's not that the missing pair are the solution to all of United's problems. After all, they were part of the side that experienced disappointing results earlier in the campaign. But without them, the boss has limited alternatives in attack. He clearly does not have full faith in youngster Shea Lacey or the seasoned Joshua Zirkzee, even though the Netherlands forward provided the through ball for Cunha's equaliser almost immediately after his arrival as a replacement. That leaves Cunha, who has now scored a small tally in recent outings, and others operating out of their natural positions, alongside Benjamin Sesko. On this evidence, the expensive frontman looks no better than previous struggling signings, lacking in belief and assurance in front of goal. Sesko's failure to turn home the cross means it is now a long run without a goal for the new signing. Leeds Analysis: Another Step Towards Safety After memorable victories in their previous home games, the arrival of their biggest rivals to Elland Road was a comparatively subdued affair. True, there were moments of expected atmosphere, but the intimidating edge was not as pronounced as in previous encounters. Leeds' fans were more concerned about their side's struggle to get worthwhile possession in dangerous areas for any prolonged period. The striker's header that clipped the post was an rare moment of quality in a tight first half. It still felt as though the hosts were struggling when a mistake opened the door for the opener. Ever so briefly, Leeds' delirious fans thought they were about to secure a rare win against Manchester United. Nevertheless, there is a much bigger picture for Daniel Farke and Leeds to deal with. When they suffered a poor run of form earlier in the season, many thought about the manager's future. In contrast, he is now overseeing clear progress. The job is not completed yet but step by step, Leeds are getting nearer to achieving their survival. Looking Ahead Leeds have a Premier League trip to Newcastle in midweek, followed by the start of their domestic cup campaign next weekend. The Red Devils face a Premier League trip to Turf Moor before also entering their FA Cup journey with a Old Trafford tie.
