19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev claimed his first title for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a difficult year, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in especial - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with former mentor Cervara.

Currently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks his initial trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface since spring of 2023.

Success also indicates the Russian has secured 21 championships at twenty-one different events.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters at once, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," commented ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my child her name, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, comprising in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted some to doubt if his ability to play at the highest level was finished.

But the player has made changes in the past month, striving to approach the net and play assertively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

He recovered from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his initial ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to force a decider.

Moutet defended four early-game chances in a tight final set before the champion won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner earned the win with a rally at the net, with his opponent incapable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
