Arne Slot conceded that it's understandable for questions to be raised about his future following a further heavy defeat against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their 9th loss in 12 games, marking the team's poorest streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I have got plenty of backing from the top,” the coach remarked.

“It would be great to turn it around and secure a win of course but if you are working as a coach and underperforming then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my role. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his discussions with the team officials, the head coach explained:

“We talk a lot. They assist for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they don't phone me every single minute of the day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal exchanges I sense the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them since this game so far so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Reaction

Slot highlighted familiar failings from his squad in their European loss, specifically poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is unacceptable. I don't have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond being angry inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a spell of this nature with results like these.”

Jones stated, “But we still have that badge on our chest. And until it is gone, we will always fight.”

“We will attempt to help the side return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more what this club is about and the reason it's called the greatest side in the planet.”

“However currently, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
